It's not really a day of public note over here, I think if you asked folks about it they wouldn't in the main have a clue.
I have no kids of my own, the furkids don't count. I do have 6 nieces and nephews, and one grand-nephew though, and my hopes are that they all grow up to be strong of mind and body, develop to their full potential, and are happy with whatever path in life they choose.
It's not really a day of public note over here, I think if you asked folks about it they wouldn't in the main have a clue.

I could write a long post about this, and might well do later in my own journal, but for myself no, I'd never have plastic surgery. If I was involved in an accident and it was necessary to avoid disfigurement then that is a different matter.

I'd have liked to have gotten the redecoration of my bedroom finished. That's not going to happen as I've pushed myself too hard in the run up to Christmas and am having an FMS flare and digestion problems. So everything is back on hold. Things like that will get done when I can. In the meantime I'll do some of the less physical stuff like update parts of the OS and utilities on my server.

I'm not awfully sure I ever really believed in Santa. Things like leaving sherry and a mince pie out for him were of course done as it was traditional.

As for something not mundane, I bought a bottle of Snow Fairy, a pot of Jilted Elf, and a Space Girl bath bomb from Lush. A girl has to treat herself now and again.

For light reading when travelling or winding down I go for fiction as it doesn't require a lot of attention.
Other times I'm just as likely to pick up non-fiction — frequently history texts, or sometimes politics/philosophy. Have you read any Aristotle or Plato recently?

My musical taste it too varied to choose a single song. Not only that, what I listen to is influenced by, and influences, my mood.
If all I could do was listen to a single song, I'd choose none. Even with my tinnitus there is still enough variety in the sounds of the world around me that I'd suffer no hardship in having no pre-recorded songs to listen to. That and the mind is a wonderful tool for making our own internal music.

I don't have what you could describe as a favourite vegetarian meal. I'm not mostly vegetarian by choice, but through circumstance. I do a damn good veg*n stirfry though.
On those rare occasions when I eat out vegetarian food tends to rely too much on dairy in some form or another. Me+dairy is just not happening. It's vary rare that I can find a conventional restaurant (and I'm not talking about fast rood places here) that does vegetarian food I can eat. Ethnic restaurants tend to be much better in this regard.

Hmm. I'd change nothing about his intellect or personality.
What I would change is his health. It pains me to see him the way he is and when I'm apart from him I do cry about it knowing that there is nothing I can do to change it and I just have to watch him getting worse week by week. I want him whole and healthy, heck I want me whole and healthy, but I know that that isn't going to happen. It really really hurts seeing him and knowing that there is nothing I can do to change things. I do what I can when I can, but it never feels like enough.

Biology saw to it that I was never capable to produce my own children (and that applies to many people). So it's a terrible assumption that all LJers would be in a position to read stories to the own offspring.

Oh there was the time in Patterdale Youth Hostel when we decided to use up all the dregs of our dried food box. THis box was frequently restocked with packet stuff like Savoury Rice and carted off on camping/hostelling weekends and by the autumn usually had all kinds of weird stuff left in it. This evening whatever was left just got chucked in a pan and cooked. Looked absolutely disgusting but tasted ok. It's exact ingredients are now lost in the mists of time. Thankfully.
Other than that there's just the usual like pigs brain, brawn, liver, kidney, tongue, heart…
Oh, and cheese and chocolate spread sandwiches.

I've already had to give up skiing. Hiking over rough and remote terrain is pretty much out of the question. Cycling is pretty dodgy too. So that really just leaves me with swimming.
So, out of the above that I can safely take part in I'm not going to give up anything as I'd be giving up the only one I can do. I'd actually love to go skiing again, climb some more of the Scottish Munroes, or go for a long bike ride.

Well. Like a vast majority of the world's population I don't live in a city. I live in a small post-industrial rural town. The beautiful parts tend to be outside of town, and beauty is in, as the old saw puts it, the eye of the beholder.
For me the most beautiful place nearby has to be Marbury woods at this time of year when the Bluebells are coming into flower. It's not just how it looks it's the scent on still early mornings before hardly a soul has disturbed the air.

That I need far more bookshelves, that I'm an eclectic reader and have some odd interests, as sitting next to a shelf full of Pratchett hardbacks are books like a copy of a 1950s RCA Radiotron Designers Handbook, and a book on Equine Clinical Neonatology. Let's not forget the books on witchcraft and the cookbooks (none of which seem to have recipes for long pig).
There is also the 'to read pile' which isn't so much a pile but a couple of double stacked shelves which includes books on the English Civil Wars, vampire fiction, Victorian England (from the perspective of social reform).

Later looking at the state of the helmet I was wearing there is good reason to believe that I'd headbutted a station for the armco. No, musical taste is not something I'm inclined to judge someone by, as a source of gentky pulling their leg maybe. If someone takes a dislike to me based on my musical taste, quite likely we'd not have gotten on anyway.
In the main, I think that within my circle of friends we manage to deal with each others musical tastes quite well, and avoid playing stuff that someone dislikes when they are present.
Fortunately we all have fairly eclectic tastes and as such there is quite a lot of shared ground.
