Yesterday went into town to get some soy milk, neither of the local general stores stock it so it's always off down to Sainsbugger's for it. Whilst there picked up a tray of mushrooms for 30p and 1kg of dead cow for £2.50. So, a worthwhile trip. On the way there though, got verbal off a clone yoof (trackie top and bottoms and ball cap) for being a Goth. If it is not one thing it's another. Just to make up for it though I did get asked by a teen girl where I got the skirt (eBay) and matching top (Chester), and she seemed genuinely interested.

On the way back I stopped to chat to friends in the pub for a bit. Whilst I was there, it was like someone just flipped a switch and I went from feeling pretty good to totally fatigued and achy. At which point I made my excuses and left. The rest of the evening was a washout as I pretty much dozed on and off through a rewatch of the BSG miniseries.

When I curled up to sleep, went out like a light and slept through for 10 hours. Still aching and feeling exhausted.

(And that was a randomly generated title )

Day three of BP monitoring and it looks like this:

Waking
Before Bed Daily Mean
Date BP HR BP HR BP HR BP HR
03 Jul 131 / 80 60 134 / 80 58 126 / 81 73 130 / 80 64
04 Jul 137 / 87 57 137 / 92 69 126 / 76 61 133 / 85 62
05 Jul 129 / 79 63 138 / 87 68 123 / 86 64 130 / 84 65
Mean 132 / 82 60 136 / 86 65 125 / 81 66 131 / 83 64

Which all looks pretty reasonable to me. What I do know is that the systolic is significantly lower than that measured at my docs. White coat syndrome FTL.

Saturday was a non-day as I was utterly exhausted with the running around down to London and to the hospital up here as well as the usuals it all seemed to just suddenly catch up with me. Felt like it was a waste of a day, but one of those things I suppose. Not only that but if it was something that normally gives me pain it hurt &ndash left knee, medial ligament in right knee, right hip, both sides of my lower back, neck, and certain bits in my pelvic region. Tried not to take painkillers but failed, so I suppose that added to the lethargy. Sunday wasn't too bad and I did get to a meeting to run through what I'll be doing in the nature reserve in the event I'm running next Sunday. Got to keep it together until then after that I can fall apart again.

Today, managed to get some housework done and got out for a short walk, although my GPSr would have me believe that it was 424miles. Must have forgotten to reset it before leaving the house.

Popped into Sainsbury's on the way home looking for inspiration for dinner, found none, but as well as soya 'milk' picked up a punnet of strawberries that were marked down to 49p. 500g of strawbs for so little would have been churlish not to have bought them. They were supposedly on special offer at 99p instead of £1.99 so I might have been tempted anyway. Used the self-service checkouts as usual as I can usually manage to get through one of those quicker than the normal ones. It was on the way home that something nagged at me as the total was a bit lower than I expected. On checking the receipt I found that they'd actually paid me 51p to take the strawberries away. They'd reduced them originally to 99p by doing a £1 refund. so scan at 49p and still get £1 refund. Ooops. Not complaining though, or maybe I should?

I can just imagine the look of puzzlement if I went to Customer Services to complain I was undercharged for them.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, morning is an appointment with my counsellor, and then it is leg it to Barnton to the dentist. Where I shall beat the dentist around the head with a blunt instrument. He has after all been telling me, for two and a half years, that there is nothing wrong with one of my teeth, yet the filling fell out the other day and the back of it was all black and gunky.

Today I wandered into Sainsbury's. As I was wandering round I overheard:

Customer: "Do you sell limes?"
Shop assistant (surprised): "Yes."
C: "Where are they?"
SA: "With the fruit and veg."
C: "What do they look like?"

SA, with a bemused look on her face, takes the customer to the limes...

Had a day off from work today. Well supposedly, have dealt with a few support issues, as I always seem to do...

Decided to go into Chester for a wander round the shops, as there were a few bits and bobs that I needed that are easier to get there. Hmm, no so much easier, but there is more choice.

A skirt was the order of the day, I seem to only wear trousers to work now, so things are progressing slowly in the right direction as far as I'm concerned. I will admit that DWCon2006 did give a bit boost to the confidence, but that is bye-the-bye.

Got to Chester a bit early for most of the shops. Why do a lot of shops seem to open at 9:30 these days? Anyway, wandered into Waterstones had a browse round, not with the intention of buying anything, but ended up with a cookery book (Nigella Lawson - Forever Summer) and Wintersmith. Also went into HMV and picked up CDs by Rory Gallagher, Ritchie Blackmore and Dr John.

It now getting on towards 10, it was, I felt time for coffee... So, as I sat drinking my latte (in Café Nero), I made the mistake of opening Wintersmith... I'm sure the 'suits' opposite me (having a business meeting) thought I was mad. It seems semi-stifled giggles do that. It was Shades of the Con over again. :)

After a long pause, "'ere my coffee's gone cold." trawled round the other shops I needed to go (bar one), and picked up a new pie-dish, salt crock, lilac valanced sheet, a new set of cutlery to replace the old day to day bitsa stuff, cheese (Keens Cheddar "It's got a bit of blue in it. Is that ok?" "Excellent."), Cotswold Blue Brie, and Stinking Bishop), meat (kudu steaks and lamb burgers). Ended up back at Café Nero, were I continued to read Wintersmith.

Funnily enough, my coffee for some bizarre reason went cold again. After that went down to Richer Sounds to get a set of bookshelf speakers for the bedroom hi-fi, and ended up with a pair of Mission M2SS for £50. They sound good enough (admittedly bass light, but clean mid and top end) for the bedroom. I wasn't expecting a powerful bass, after all, they do only have 4" drivers.

In my trawling round the shops, I forgot to go the the hardware shop in the market for a proper galvanised mop bucket - can't be doing with these plastic things.

Got back to deal with yet more support queries from work. Bah.

I did only acquire the occasional odd look today, which is good. Also directed at me from behind, whilst I was perusing things in a shop a "Can I help you miss?".

So all told a good day, leaving me tired and happy. But now, pub for a natter (still no booze , I'll have a J2O please), then chineefoo I think.
