I decided it was time to sort the kitchen cupboards out. Prompted by the need to get a tin of coconut milk out, which was stuffed at the back of a shelf. So, I drag everything off the shelves of the one where the tins/bottles are. As I'm doing that I'm sorting the stuff into "Best Before" date order.

2008/9 got put back on the top shelf unless it was something I'm going to use soon. The close to expiry stuff went on the middle shelf. The bottom shelf has the tea/coffee/sugar/salt/pepper(s) on it.

So, I found the coconut milk = good. BBE Dec 06 = dubious, so I decided to pass on that, and just use creamed coconut instead.

I also seem to have acquired about 6 jars of honey, none of which have any kind of date code on them, so I can't even guess how old they are. What was more worrying than an excess of honey, was a tin of "Easy Fried Onions (cooked in Olive Oil)". I'm not exactly sure of how or why I came to have them, the mere thought revolts me. I'll have to assume I bought them at some point a long time ago, after all the "best before" on them was Apr 03. That means they have moved house at least once with me.

There were no other unwelcome surprises... But does anyone want a spare 350ml bottle of Tabasco? I appear to have 2 unopened.

Tomorrow I may even try to sort the spice shelf out.

Alice.
