It's stupid o'clock in the morning and I can't sleep. In the hopes of bringing on the desire to sleep I went for a walk down the river bank.
Did it help? No, not really, I'm no more relaxed than I was when I left the house over an hour ago. Neither did the usual relaxation techniques I've used many times before to great success. Bah.
Oh, well. as I can't sleep I suppose I can do some work, until it is time for the early train, and take half of tomorrow off.
Alice.

a) Talking books - get comfy in bed, turn out the lights, switch on the tape/CD and go back to childhood when you were read to sleep - for this method it helps if it's a book you already konw fairly well, otherwise you'll keep awake to hear the next bit :-)
b) Lie in the dark in bed. Breathe deeply and slowly. Tense entire body. Deliberately untense one bit at a time (Start with one leg, then the other, work your way up the body)

a. is not something I'm inclined to do as I don't actually have any audio books, and it would mean leaving a valve amp on whilst I sleep - should it actually work.
