Amongst other things, today (and last night) was Northwich beer festival. I'd agreed to meet some friends there for the Saturday lunchtime session, which I duly did.
Sampled maybe a dozen or so beers, can't say what most of them were, but they ranged from, in my opinion, "ghods that's vile", to merely "yuk". Even such old favourites as Tim Taylors Landlord, and Wobbly Bob were, to me, foul. This should not be taken as a reflection of the true quality of the ales, most of which were in good condition or so I am told. So, I spent the session nattering and sipping a barely tolerable half of Westons Perry (the only thing that I sampled that was palatable, AFAIWC). This has, of course, left me with itchy hands as I have a mild allergy to pears.
My conclusion from this, is that I have really and truly gone off beer. Also, I find that I don't actually have any real desire to drink alcohol. I have to admit, it was strange for me sitting there with 66 beers, and 14 ciders and perrys within easy reach and not find any of them particularly tempting. An interesting experiment.
Will I ever drink beer again? Who knows, but based on my present tastes and desires not in the short term, certainly.
Alice.
