I think last nights foray to Stockport Beer Festival confirms what I've said in earlier entries: I have gone off alcoholic beverages.

Several weeks ago, I had arranged to meet Niel there, so along I went. As I'm a CAMRA member it was free entry. Unfortunately Niel couldn't get there as he was working late.

So, I started with a half (I only drink halves at beer festivals) of Bowland Gold (3.8%ABV). This had a clean slightly hoppy taste, but I struggled to drink it. Previously, this is the sort of ale that I could easily have had quite a session on.

Ok, so that didn't do anything for me. I decided to try one of the old favourites, Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild (6%ABV). Hmm, same problem. Oh well.

I then tried Millstone Stone Circle (4.2%ABV, IIRC). A good fruity and hoppy flavour. Err, no thanks.

By this time, I'm just on the edge of getting drunk (yes, after 1 1/2 pints I'm beginning to feel the effects). So, I decide that, as I'm also not liking the stuff, it is time to go.

As I now feel that I'm wasting my time (and money) trying to find something alcoholic to drink that I like, I just won't bother for the foreseeable future. There are two main benefits here:
    1. I feel better,
    2. I'm not spending as much.
